Well, there are two events to report about for May. Thanks to Lorrie Dahlen and the folks at the South Shore Nature Center for having our literature available for their Spring Festival. Lorrie is also taking our materials to her local Marshfield Farmers Market.
I headed out to Pittsfield for a 350.org event, “Living the Change: Climate Action and Sustainability Festival”. We have been interested in doing more outreach to the Berkshire region, so this seemed like a great way to meet some western Mass. folks. Also, it seems like developing a coalition with 350.org folks is an important way to further both of our organizational goals. For us here at NOFA/Mass, getting out information on soil health and how it impacts carbon sequestration is of prime importance. More people need to know that increased soil biological life leads to healthier plants plus increased nutritional value of our food all while helping remedy the climate crisis. A great connection was made and we’re glad to have made the trip!
Want to help out? We have some literature (about this topic as well as Summer Conference postcards) that could be distributed in your town: at farmer’s markets, libraries, college campuses and such like. Just let me know and we’ll mail you a small amount to distribute. Send me an email atoutreach@nofamass.org.
